What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese practice that involves the insertion of very thin needles into specific points on the skin. These acupuncture points run along pathways know as meridians. The meridians channel energy that is called "Qi" which is vital to our well-being. Balancing the "Qi" ensures optimal health. Pain, poor circulation, insomnia, menstrual irregularity and infertility are only a few signs of unbalanced meridian energy. By tapping needles into the appropriate acupuncture points on the meridians, the naturopathic doctor is able to stabilize the "Qi" and restore good health for the patient. Acupuncture has a cumulative affect, so a few treatments are required if the patient is in a chronic state of health. Acupuncture is a safe and effective procedure which is used to encourage natural healing, reduce or relieve pain, and improve mood and energy.
